APA: Tell us your name, job position and describe what your business provides to the community.

APA: How long have you been an APA member?
I have held most every position in APA. I am a lifetime member.
APA: How long have you lived in Cincinnati?
In 1987, I was recruited by University of Cincinnati from the Duke Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. I am a Vine Swamp, North Carolina native.
APA: Thinking about your professional life, what are you most proud of?
My career was all things geriatrics! I was the first non-physician to be named a Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) based in New York City. I served as vice president of the AGS Foundation on Health and Aging.
APA: If we were to ask your best friend about you, what would they say?
My best friend from the first grade describes me as “old school,” steady, thoughtful and a very focused listener.
APA: What, or who, inspires you, and why?
I am fortunate to have had my personal and professional mentor since 1978. She personally believed in me and gave her professional endorsement for me to publish a book chapter, numerous articles and national keynote presentations.
