No Joke: The Serious Use of Improv in Healthcare Settings

Network with us and enjoy a short "improv" session, and enjoy a delicious Italian dinner and a drink while you learn! 

Taking simple improv games, principles, and techniques and applying them in our daily interactions with patients, families, and colleagues to make us better and more empathetic listeners, collaborators, and advocates. 

This is an educational event that will include (voluntary) interaction.

This is a one hour CEU for Ohio social workers and counselors. Nurses will be issued a certificate that can be presented to your board.

5:00 - 5:30: registration, networking and dinner buffet begins
5:45 - 7:00: program and Q&A

About the presenters

Tom Badger, Remember to LaughTom Badger is the Founder and President of Remember to Laugh, an organization focused on bringing laughter and ridiculous joy through improv shows, classes, and workshops. Proceeds from many RTL improv shows and classes go to Alzheimer's related causes.

Tom has produced nine live comedy improv shows in the past three years, with many more on the way. Tom is using all of these activities to promote awareness of Alzheimer's Disease. He is a Support Group Facilitator and Community Educator for the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Cincinnati. Remember to Laugh, formed in 2021, will be creating Support Groups for teenagers and young adults who have Alzheimer's in their families, as well as providing college scholarships for students who are interested in the prevention of this disease. 

Emily ElmaEmily Elma is a full-time Senior Advisor with Oasis Senior Advisors North and has enjoyed working with the senior population for 16 years. She recently joined the team at Neuropsych Center of Greater Cincinnati on a part-time basis to provide grant-funded Purposeful Planning consults. She recently concluded her first round of co-facilitating Purposeful Tools for Caregivers classes. She has served on the Association for Professionals in Aging Board for the past two+ years.

Six years ago, Emily started taking improv classes as a form of self-care and an artistic outlet and fell in love with it. She currently performs with philanthropic improv group Remember to Laugh and Improv Cincinnati’s Blitz and Life of the Party teams. She has recently tackled sketch comedy and has been featured in Clifton Comedy Theater’s Cincinnati Night Live shows.

Emily has witnessed the magic of improv and its practical implications in her work with seniors, caregivers and colleagues! She invites you to say "Yes...And" drink the improv Kool-Aid! She hopes you enjoy what you learn and take some of it with you in all areas of your life.
